From what I understood about the term 'pick me girl', it has more to do with internalised misogyny, rather than having typically 'male' interests.

If you go out of your way to say you're 'not like other girls' you're indirectly implying you're better than other women and perpetuating harmful stereotypes and prejudices we would all be better off. So yes, calling out internalised misogyny makes absolute sense.
