I'm really sorry this has happened. No one deserves to go through that.
The point I'm trying to make in the article refers mostly to encounters with strangers, and - as I said in my first comment - that's not something I've heard/seen happen to men when being picked up by random women.
Domestic violence is another huge issue, but again - just by looking at stats of perpetrators by gender it's largely a gendered one. It doesn't mean there are no male victims, or they should be dismissed. Absolutely not. They have to be taken as seriously as female victims. I also wish more men would talk about it, there's very little awareness on that.
