Let me guess... you are an American Christian boomer, probably born and living in Midwest who never lived anywhere else (outside the US)?
I'm neither of the things you are, and I definitely don't support heteronormative standards in any shape or form. They are outdated, plain and simple. And so is Christianity or any other Abrahamic religion. Surprisingly, America is so far behind any other Western country when it comes to secularism.
Resolving conflict in relationships, whether monogamous or polyamorous, depends on people's love language, attachment style, mental health conditions and many more aspects. It's definitely not just a case of "let's have one head of the household, otherwise people just divorce". That's a very one-dimensional way of thinking.
